The Inventory Manager plays a crucial role in ensuring accurate stock levels, timely replenishment, and smooth daily operations of the store. This position is responsible for tracking all incoming and outgoing products, maintaining up-to-date records, preventing stock shortages or overstocking, and ensuring product freshness. The manager works closely with the supply chain and sales teams to align stock availability with customer demand and store performance.

Responsibilities

Stock Monitoring and Control:

  • Maintain and update daily inventory records.
  • Prevent overstocking and stockouts through timely action.
  • Identify expired or non-moving items and take necessary steps.

Receiving and Verification:

  • Verify incoming stock against purchase orders.
  • Ensure accurate quantity and quality during receiving.
  • Report any discrepancies or damaged goods immediately.

Inventory Data Entry:

  • Record all inventory movement in POS or inventory software.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date stock records.
  • Ensure proper labeling and categorization of products.

Reordering and Procurement Coordination:

  • Monitor stock levels and notify for reordering when needed.
  • Collaborate with the supply chain team.
  • Maintain minimum and maximum stock thresholds.

Stock Audits and Reporting:

  • Conduct regular physical stock counts.
  • Prepare weekly/monthly inventory reports for management.
  • Reconcile physical stock with system records.

Waste and Loss Management:

  • Track product wastage and take steps to minimize loss.
  • Ensure proper disposal of expired/damaged goods as per company policy.

Team Coordination:

  • Work closely with store staff to ensure accurate shelf stocking.
  • Train and supervise junior staff on inventory handling procedures.
  • Communicate clearly with sales and accounts teams as needed.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration or Supply Chain Management (Master’s preferred).
  • 3 - 6 years of experience in retail chain, highly preferred in super shops or modern trade.
  • Strong leadership, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Comfortable working on the ground, visiting shops on regular basis.
  • Experience with inventory software or POS systems is a plus.
  • Must have advanced knowledge of Excel.
